School

The selection is widest in June and July, before the August peak. Buying early allows time to ensure the schoolbag fits the notebooks requested by the school. Supply lists often arrive at the end of the school year.

Health recommendations advise that a full school bag should not exceed 10% of a child's weight, or about 2.5 kg for a 25 kg child. Choose a school bag that is lightweight when empty and only keep the day's necessary items in the bag.

The satchel, rigid and structured, protects notebooks and stands up on its own: it is well-suited for primary school. The backpack is lighter and more flexible, favored from middle school onwards. Both should be worn on both shoulders.

Empty it every week to remove crumbs and papers, clean it with a damp sponge and leave it open to dry. Avoid dragging it on the floor by the handle. A quality school bag can last for several years.
