Carry-on luggage

The IATA standard recommends 55 x 40 x 20 cm, including wheels and handles. However, each airline applies its own rules: Air France accepts 55 x 35 x 25 cm, easyJet 56 x 45 x 25 cm for paid cabin baggage. Always check the conditions of your ticket before departure.

A hard-shell suitcase made of polycarbonate or polypropylene protects fragile items better and is rain-resistant. A soft-shell suitcase is often lighter, fits more easily into a car trunk, and offers exterior pockets for storing a laptop, documents, or a toiletry bag.

The permitted weight depends on the airline and the fare. Air France allows 12 kg in Economy class, including cabin baggage and a personal item. Ryanair and Vueling set the limit at 10 kg with the appropriate option. A lightweight cabin suitcase gives you more room for your belongings.

The 4-wheel suitcase glides effortlessly beside you and pivots on the spot, making it easy to navigate through the airport and down the airplane aisle. The 2-wheel suitcase is pulled behind you, retains slightly more interior volume, and rolls better over cobblestones and damaged sidewalks.
